Ganondorf is the first and main villain, as well as the most recurring one, to have appeared in The Legend of Zelda video game serie. He first appeared under the shortened name "Ganon" until his full name was revealed in Link to the Past, with an English mistranslation also adding Dragmire as being his name. Ganondorf Dragmire appeared at his start as a blue pig monster, whose only wish is to conquer the land of Hyrule. As the serie stepped into the 3D world, Ganondorf took a human form, and the tradition remained to call his beast-like form Ganon and his human form Ganondorf. No matter what form he takes, his purpose always remains to take over the kingdom of the Princess Zelda, Hyrule, with his army of minion, and while he got the means to do it, he never succeeded for too long, his eternal enemy, Link, the hero chosen by the Goddess, stepping in to stop him.
Wielder of one of the three Triforce piece, the Triforce of Power, and King of the Gerudo; Ganondorf evolved throughout the ages and throughout the game, even to the point of being les the full evil villain he was at first, to become a better worked villain with a sad background story, the Gerudo Desert being a place difficult for him and his peoples to live, and his feeling to be jealous of Hyrule driving him to wish to take over this land to ultimately have a better place to live for himself and his peoples, making of Ganondorf not only a great villain, but also a complex character, being considering and acting as evil but having done what he did originally for the good of his own peoples.
